Sirloin Tips, Homemade Bread, and Forty Years of Full Plates
A Litchfield institution since 1983, Maverick has fed generations of area families — and more than a few grateful travelers pulling off I-55 — with a formula that never needed fixing: hearty portions, genuine hospitality, and homemade bread on every table.
Two Restaurants in One Maverick is famously divided into two distinct sides. The buffet side is where tradition meets abundance — a cafeteria-style spread with a rotating selection of hot and cold dishes, fresh sides, and homemade desserts, with large-group seating built for family dinners and team outings. The bar and lounge side is the cozier retreat, with its own menu of appetizers, wraps, and lighter fare alongside made-to-order steaks — paired with cold beer, handcrafted cocktails, or a glass of wine.
What to Order The sirloin tips are the signature, the homemade bread is the legend, and the menu runs deep with steaks, broasted chicken, fish, shrimp, and chops. Sunday brunch and daily lunch and dinner specials keep the locals coming back. Takeout, banquets, and catering available.
